god, but garlic! garlic!!! garlic is SO neat
rows are may thru aug & the final row is after cleaning and trimming them for storage. they should keep until early feb. in another two months it’ll be time to plant new cloves and repeat the process. year round garlic action! how cool is that?? 🧄
@intoourlastmomentsofinnocence indeed you do not wash it! Dampness is the enemy of garlic preservation! There are multiple approaches and you can lightly clean them with a brush but the most common and magic-trick-like way is to shuck off an outer layer of skin or two. This can be done directly after harvesting but I also left a bunch completely untouched until after they cured and found it worked even better, because the skins are drier. You want to retain as many layers as possible to increase storage lifespan but the garlic can usually spare a couple. Some people do it while the garlic is fresh from the ground - you can peel directly from the leafs, and each leaf represents one layer. there’s your garlic facts for the week!! 💛
